Into the mystery

The title “Into the Mystery” is inspired by a NEEDTOBREATHE song that celebrates the joy that comes from being willing to explore the tension of seen and unseen. This series of paintings is an invitation to explore those contradictions gently. Reflections in the shallows of water are a vision of what is above and what is below at the same time, combining both of those spaces into the reflective surface. These liminal spaces in nature exist as a snapshot of the high and the low together, providing the space to mirror that process internally, with the hope that curiosity and ideas can be found even where concrete conclusions cannot. Growth is found in the struggle to make sense of ideas and experiences that seem to be in complete opposition. All images are inspired by reflections found at the Riparian Reserve in Gilbert, Arizona.
